Field Trip to Cape Breton Island (Day 1)

Its Thanksgiving on Monday, our host being such nice people decided to bring us up to Cape Breton Island for the weekend. In case you are wondering where Cape Breton is....

Its a 5 hrs drive up north of Nova Scotia from Kentville and I must really commend on our outstanding CI, who is obviously the duty officer. He literally paid for the entire course of 27 pax for a cultural visit to a hertiage centre that must had cost CA $ 150, I think. It was rather boring really, it showcased the original 'Canadians' who happened to look like Indians that first stepped foot in Canada. However, there wasn't much artifects or stuff to look around and the centre was kindda small. The only interesting thing was this statue:

I slept throughout most of the drive up and woke up on occasions when someone goes, wow, yeah, exclaiming about the fantastic view. Only then, I'll get up and take some pics...

Cape Breton Island and Nova Scotia is only linked by a 2 laned 2-way causeway

ZZZzzzzzzzz

Then we pop-ed by another museum that tributes Alexander Graham Bell. Never did I knew the man who invented the telephone's passion was to educate the deaf to listen and speak. His wife was a student of his and his wife was deaf... Mr Bell also had a hand in airplanes and hydroboats; and most importantly spend a great deal of his remaining life in Canada, Cape Breton Island.

That was Day 1, then we checked into the Canadian Coastal Guard College and boy was I pleased to have my personal room at last. More about that tomorrow...
